Jonathan Hulley, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Twickenham, has called for new homes to be built on the old Greggs site in South Twickenham, arguing that the constituency needs practical action to help the next generation get on the housing ladder.
Speaking from the site, Jonathan said: “I’m here in South Twickenham by the Greggs site, a site that had been earmarked for new homes many years ago but not yet developed. I want to see new homes for the next generation built in this constituency and this is a site that could have and should have been many years ago.”
Jonathan said Twickenham needs a new kind of MP, one who is visible, focused on solving problems and determined to get things done. He argued that building more homes should not mean sacrificing green spaces or building on green belt land, but making better use of appropriate sites that have sat undeveloped for too long.
Conservatives believe in aspiration, home ownership, strong families and responsible development. That means helping younger people and local families find homes in the communities where they grew up, while protecting the green spaces and local character that make Twickenham special.
Jonathan added: “If I’m elected as the next MP for Twickenham I will work with the council, indeed I will put pressure on the Richmond council to deliver new homes for the next generation including on this site.”
Twickenham Conservatives said the old Greggs site is an example of where practical, locally sensitive development could help deliver much-needed homes without building on protected green spaces.
Local Conservatives will continue to campaign for housing that supports the next generation, protects local communities and makes better use of sites that should have been brought forward years ago.
