Local Conservatives joined the White Ribbon Walk in Hampton this afternoon, standing alongside residents and representatives from across the political divide in a shared commitment to tackling violence against women and girls. The walk brought people together to show support for the White Ribbon campaign and to underline the importance of making Twickenham, Hampton and the wider borough safer for everyone.
Jonathan Hulley, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Twickenham, said the issue must remain above party politics. He said: “It was a privilege to join the White Ribbon Walk in Hampton and to stand with others in making clear that violence against women and girls has no place in our community. “This is an issue that requires a serious, sustained and cross-party commitment. Everyone should feel safe in our streets, parks, public spaces and on public transport. That means listening to women and girls, supporting victims, challenging unacceptable behaviour and making safety a real priority.”
The White Ribbon campaign encourages men and boys to take an active role in ending violence against women and girls by promoting respect, challenging harmful attitudes and speaking out against abuse and harassment.
Local Conservatives said they were pleased to support the walk and would continue to back practical action to improve safety across the Twickenham constituency.
Jonathan added: “Twickenham should be a safe place for everyone. We all have a responsibility to help make that happen.”
