Richmond Lib Dem Leader Criticised Over Farage Banking Comments.
Statement from Hampton North Conservative Councillor Geoffrey Samuel: “I am appalled that in this country where free speech is a cornerstone of our democracy that Gareth Roberts, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Richmond-Upon-Thames, believes it is right for anyone to experience appalling discrimination solely on behalf of their political views. This is not North Korea or Communist China. Nigel Farage may not be everyone’s cup of tea but in a democracy where he has done nothing illegal he has a right to a bank account where he meets all the criteria to hold such an account.
Councillor Roberts posted on Twitter:
"I really hope that whatever happens with that odious man's account, that Coutts make sure he's never allowed to bank with them ever again".
